Magical. Magical if you are constantly contemplative and have always wondered about life...even as you hurdle through life...but wish we could all just slow down and talk about it. This is what this film was.

Great sublime performances by John Cho and Haley Lu Richardson. Since Cho had ...Read more

I loved this film. Having been to Columbus, it was such a treat to see the beautiful architecture again and so lovingly filmed. As a native Hoosier, I feel Kogonada has certainly nailed the lives of midwestern women, so much so that I feel he must have known some personally. I would love to ...Read more

A beautifully shot little gem of a movie, so refreshing after all the big budget movies with endless fight scenes. The slow pacing is just right in order to take in and appreciate the different architectures of Columbus showcased in the movie. A feast for the eyes.

A quiet, gorgeous movie. If you consider yourself a visual person, don't miss it. If not, don't bother.

very good, as many commenters have already said. Understated, slow (in a good way) and full of tension brought to a slow, melancholy release. I was constantly reminded of Lost in Translation, another excellent movie, with a vastly different setting. that movie, a real longing is ...Read more

I didn't expect to like this and that's always a good sign meaning it wasn't a "so-bad-it-was-good" film...btw, my pic is Janis Joplin's mug shot in '63 when she got busted for shoplifting in Berkeley...

Wow! What an exquisite film! This is a quiet story of transformative friendship in which buildings and a town feel like additional characters who are working to bring two persons closer in a moment of distress despite these people's calm appearances. Such a unique and different film. The ...Read more

3.5 stars: Not sure why, but I liked it. For one thing it is meditative & visually attractive & sometimes beautiful. I did like the characters, so the film worked for me. But, I can see why most people would find it boring. You have to let go and just give yourself up to it.

Kogonada has provided what I always felt lacking in Malick--most of the shots are sublime and beautiful, but not self-indulgent.

I'm an architecture buff and I lasted a whole ten minutes into this film. As a movie it does not engage. Better to just watch architecture documentaries.

So interesting, I stumbled across this movie and use to work for the bank that Joseph I. Irwin started in Columbus. The family did so many amazing things in Columbus, IN. It was sad to see the bank fail after more than 127 years in business. Did the Miller family underwrite this movie?

Beautiful. I've figured out that reviews calling a book or movie "too slow" means it's probably going to be perfect for me -- relatable, meaningful, and moving, with no overdramatized elements there to compensate for lifeless storytelling.

I have come to that same conclusion about "too slow" movies being perfect for me.

I'm bowled over by all the positive reviews. Found this movie excruciatingly long and boring.

You'd probably understand it better if you were an architectural buff

Quite slow, but I made it through the whole movie. It's more emotional than dramatic. Good movie.

A lovely film. With an artist's eye for symmetry and a poet's awareness of what binds us together in the human family. What a refreshing find!

Never heard of this movie till today. How did I miss this release? Beautiful, emotional film. Super Haley Lu Richardson. Awesome cinematography, great calmness in this film Watch it!

Made it through about 10 minutes.

For me, Columbus is, in part, a meditative celebration of the role of architecture in our lives. The filmmakers ingeniously incorporate all the characters into the setting, employing the human form not only as movable figures within design but also as design elements themselves, melding the ...Read more

Richardson was wonderful.. And always great when Parker Posey pops up unexpectedly ;-) Very thoughtful and beautiful movie that I'll likely watch again. A love song to Columbus.....

This was one of my favorite movies of 2017. I hope Kogonada goes on to do more features because this was a superb debut.

slow building and a bit sad but a sweet movie.
